Elmer Gullion was born December 31, 1916. As a teenager Bro. Gullion was led to the Lord by Bro. Frank Hooge during a revival meeting in Severance, Colorado. He later went to the Philippines as a soldier. While he was there, some Filipino people saw him reading his Bible and asked him if he would hold a religious service of thanksgiving. Three families participated, thanking God for sparing their lives during the war. They asked him to come back after the war as a missionary. He was told, "You have liberated us from the Japanese, but we face a greater enemy. Please come back and show us how to get spiritual victory." He surrendered to do that very thing.
He attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. In May of 1949, he as his wife, Daisy Mae, returned as missionaries and God gave him 50 very fruitful years of service to the Filipino people. He concentrated his efforts among the Muslim people. He started many works and saw multitudes saved. Elmer Gullion was called Home to be with his Lord on March 5, 2000. He was honored at his funeral by a host of missionaries and Filipino friends who loved this gentle giant of a man. He was survived by his wife, Daisy Mae of Dugupan, Philippines, and five children: Dennis, David, Forest Ray, Elizabeth Rose, and Nathan. Bro. Gullion is buried in Dugupan, Philippines.
