Evelyn was born Nov 14, 1930 in Abilene, Texas. She and Lavern were married August 26, 1949 and they started deputation in October of that same year. They left for Japan on March 31, 1950 and arrived on May 5 when the country was still recovering from the effects of World War II.  Evelyn was only 19 at the time.
    They became affiliated with the Baptist Bible Fellowship upon its inception in 1950.  Evelyn was greatly loved by the Japanese people. The ladies of the Chofu Baptist Temple published her messages to them in a book which has been widely distributed. Evelyn died April 9, 1989 in Japan from congestive heart failure.  She was survived by her husband, Lavern, son Jonathan and daughters Jerushua and Belinda.
